Priya Kapur Denies Unpaid Fees in Sunjay Kapur Estate Dispute

Post by : Meena Hassan

Priya Kapur has dismissed claims that Samaira Kapoor's university fees remain unsettled. The matter arose during an active legal confrontation concerning the estate of the deceased industrialist Sunjay Kapur, who passed away in London earlier this year.

At the Delhi High Court hearing, Priya's attorney, Sheyl Trehan, provided receipts affirming that Samaira's university payments were fully made. The documents revealed that ₹95 lakh for each semester had been cleared, with the next payment not due until December. This contradicted earlier assertions from Karisma Kapoor’s legal counsel, who mentioned that there were two months of fees owed for Samaira, who is currently studying in the United States.

The judge briefly engaged with the disagreement and issued a stern reminder to both parties, emphasizing the need to eliminate unnecessary theatrics. Justice Singh remarked that such trivial matters should not keep surfacing in court.

This fee controversy is part of a broader feud regarding Sunjay Kapur's estate. His children with Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan, have alleged that their stepmother Priya Sachdev Kapur has forged Sunjay's will, excluding them from any inheritance. Priya’s legal team refutes these claims, asserting that it is common for a husband to bequeath his assets to his wife.

Samaira and Kiaan are also seeking an interim injunction to prevent Priya from selling or modifying any of Sunjay's assets while the legal case proceeds. Currently, the court is deliberating on this request as the family dispute unfolds.
