Following a viral image from Brazil alleging voter fraud, an Indian woman has found herself in a similar predicament. Known as Urrmi on her X account, she shared photos with an ink-stained finger, claiming to have voted in different elections across two states.
Dual Posts, Dual Elections
The first post from May 13, 2024, captures her voting in Pune during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, with the message: “Go Vote, Pune! Voted for development, voted for clean governance, voted for a Modi-fied India!”
Another post, dated November 6, 2025, states: “Voted for a Modi-fied India! Jaai ke Vote daali, Bihar!”
These posts incited considerable discussion, with politicians sharing them to fuel allegations of voter fraud. Some users hinted that the second post was meant to be sarcastic.
Woman's Clarification
In the wake of her November 6 post gaining traction, Urrmi clarified that she did not actually vote that day in Bihar. She stated: “Okay, this was just for motivation. I never said I voted today — I said I voted. And everyone knows it was in Maharashtra. So calm down! Motivated enough? Now your turn, Bihar. Go vote!!”
AAP’s Allegations
The Aam Aadmi Party has accused BJP officials of voting in both the Delhi and Bihar elections. Delhi BJP figures Rakesh Sinha, Santosh Ojha, and Nagendra Kumar were named in these allegations. Sinha responded by explaining that he had legally transitioned his vote from Delhi to Bihar, labeling the claims as “baseless and morally flawed.”
Case of the Brazilian Model
Earlier, a photo of Brazilian model Larissa Nery circulated, suggesting she appeared at polling stations 22 times in Haryana under various names. Nery clarified that the image was old, taken when she was 20, expressing surprise at being associated with Indian voting.
These events underline the immense scrutiny surrounding India's electoral system and the viral nature of social media in magnifying allegations of voter fraud, whether real or humorous.
