HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, conducted a series of high-level bilateral meetings in New York on Wednesday. These discussions took place on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, highlighting Qatar’s active role in international diplomacy this year.

Meetings With Senior Global Officials

HE Dr. Al Khulaifi met separately with senior officials from multiple countries. These included HE Yvan Gil Pinto, Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela; HE Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Mali; and HE Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.

Engagement With European Leaders

Qatar’s Minister also held discussions with European officials. HE Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Norway, and HE Diego Martinez Belio, State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs of Spain, were among the key European leaders with whom Qatar explored deeper cooperation and diplomatic engagement.

Discussions With North American and Regional Partners

The meetings extended to North American and regional partners. HE Allison Hooker, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, and HE Nuh Yılmaz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye, joined the talks. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing cooperation, and sharing perspectives on pressing international developments.

Focus on Bilateral Relations and Cooperation

During these meetings, HE Dr. Al Khulaifi emphasized the importance of building strong bilateral relations. The discussions highlighted areas of potential collaboration, including economic, political, and security matters. Both sides expressed a shared commitment to enhancing mutual understanding and promoting strategic partnerships.

Addressing Regional and Global Challenges

Another key aspect of the meetings was dialogue on regional and global developments. The discussions allowed Qatar and its partners to exchange views on challenges such as peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and global security concerns. This engagement reinforces Qatar’s role as an active contributor to international dialogue.

Qatar’s Active Diplomatic Role at UNGA

These meetings form part of Qatar’s broader efforts during the UN General Assembly. By engaging with high-level officials from various regions, Qatar aims to strengthen its international partnerships, foster cooperation, and play a constructive role in addressing global issues through dialogue and diplomacy.

Commitment to International Partnerships

HE Dr. Al Khulaifi’s engagements reflect Qatar’s continued focus on international collaboration. Through these high-level meetings, Qatar seeks to advance strategic relationships, identify new opportunities for cooperation, and contribute positively to discussions on peace, stability, and sustainable development worldwide.
