HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, conducted a series of high-level bilateral meetings in New York on Wednesday. These discussions took place on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, highlighting Qatar’s active role in international diplomacy this year.
Meetings With Senior Global Officials
HE Dr. Al Khulaifi met separately with senior officials from multiple countries. These included HE Yvan Gil Pinto, Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela; HE Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Mali; and HE Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.
Engagement With European Leaders
Qatar’s Minister also held discussions with European officials. HE Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Norway, and HE Diego Martinez Belio, State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs of Spain, were among the key European leaders with whom Qatar explored deeper cooperation and diplomatic engagement.
Discussions With North American and Regional Partners
The meetings extended to North American and regional partners. HE Allison Hooker, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, and HE Nuh Yılmaz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye, joined the talks. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing cooperation, and sharing perspectives on pressing international developments.
Focus on Bilateral Relations and Cooperation
During these meetings, HE Dr. Al Khulaifi emphasized the importance of building strong bilateral relations. The discussions highlighted areas of potential collaboration, including economic, political, and security matters. Both sides expressed a shared commitment to enhancing mutual understanding and promoting strategic partnerships.
Addressing Regional and Global Challenges
Another key aspect of the meetings was dialogue on regional and global developments. The discussions allowed Qatar and its partners to exchange views on challenges such as peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and global security concerns.
