Three Palestinian homes in the town of Qusra, south of Nablus in the northern West Bank, have reportedly remained under siege for 13 consecutive days, according to Palestinian officials.
The situation was reported on August 21, with officials saying settlers and Israeli forces have continued surrounding the homes in the Ras al-Ain area. The reported restrictions have prevented families from freely entering or leaving their houses.
Abdul Azim Wadi, head of the Qusra Council, was quoted by the Palestinian News and Information Agency as saying that three homes remain surrounded in the area.
According to the official, one of the houses has been taken over and turned into what was described as a military barracks. The area has also reportedly been declared a closed military zone.
Palestinian officials said the restrictions have affected the ability of families inside the homes to receive essential supplies.
According to the report, residents are facing shortages of food and some medicines because deliveries to the houses have reportedly been prevented. The situation has raised concerns about the conditions of the families remaining inside the area.
The Palestinian News and Information Agency reported that Israeli forces destroyed belongings and furniture inside one resident's home on Thursday evening and converted the property into a military post.
The homeowner was reportedly staying in another house that was also under siege after soldiers allegedly forced him and his family to leave their original home.
According to the Palestinian account, Israeli forces have declared the affected area a closed military zone. Residents have reportedly faced restrictions on movement while the homes remain surrounded.
The reported events have added to tensions in Qusra, a Palestinian town south of Nablus that has experienced repeated confrontations involving Palestinian residents, Israeli settlers and Israeli forces.
The reported siege comes amid continuing tensions and violence in parts of the occupied West Bank. Palestinian officials say the restrictions around the Qusra homes are creating difficult conditions for families living in the affected area.
The claims in this report are attributed to Palestinian officials and the Palestinian News and Information Agency. Independent verification of all the reported details was not provided in the source material.
The reported siege of the three homes has continued into its 13th day, with Palestinian officials calling attention to the families' access to food, medicines and movement.
Further developments are expected as authorities and humanitarian organisations monitor conditions in Qusra and the wider northern West Bank.
