Nikkhil Advani’s action-comedy, Chandni Chowk To China, featuring Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone, has faced box office disappointment. Recently, actor Ranvir Shorey conveyed that the film's shortcomings stemmed from its director and producer.
He remarked that although the script was promising, the film fell short in its execution. “A solid script should translate well on screen, and when it doesn’t, the onus is on the producer and director,” he stated.
In 2021, director Nikkhil Advani also reflected on the film’s lack of success, mentioning, “There were too many minds at play. Akshay and I were directing the film in one way, while Ramesh Sippy had his vision, and Rohan Sippy and Sridhar Raghavan were pulling in different directions. Eventually, I felt overwhelmed.”
Chandni Chowk To China (2009) included performances by Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Mithun Chakraborty, Gordon Liu, and Ranvir Shorey. The plot followed Sidhu, a humble Delhi cook, who is mistakenly thought to be a reincarnated Chinese warrior. Despite receiving mixed feedback, the film grossed ₹53.45 crore against its ₹65 crore budget.
