Raptors Clinch Tight Victory Over Hornets Thanks to Barrett's Late Heroics

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

In a gripping clash on Monday night, the Toronto Raptors edged the Charlotte Hornets 110-108. The game was tension-filled from the start, culminating in a defining layup by RJ Barrett with just 18 seconds remaining. This crucial shot propelled the Raptors to victory.

Barrett played a significant role throughout the match, finishing with 16 pivotal points, including the game-winner that had the crowd roaring.

The Raptors are riding high, securing their fourth consecutive win and eighth in their last nine encounters, boosting their confidence as various players stepped up once again.

Leading the charge, Brandon Ingram scored 27 points, showcasing his shooting prowess and leadership. Immanuel Quickley contributed 15 points and ten rebounds, proving essential on both ends of the court.

Defensively, Scottie Barnes made a mark with 16 points, blocking a potential last-second shot from the Hornets that sealed the win for Toronto.

Jakob Poeltl contributed 13 points and nine rebounds, while Gradey Dick added another 10 points off the bench.

The Charlotte Hornets put up a fierce fight, with Kon Knueppel leading their scoring with 24 points. He was instrumental in keeping Charlotte competitive.

Miles Bridges notched 22 points with considerable energy, and LaMelo Ball managed 20 points despite suffering a bloody elbow to the nose early in the third quarter.

Collin Sexton also made an impact with 17 points, including a crucial three-pointer down the stretch. Ryan Kalkbrenner chipped in with seven points and ten rebounds.

The Hornets' determination showed as they briefly took the lead late in the fourth on a dunk by Moussa Diabate, putting them ahead 105-104.

Toronto had a solid start, leading 28-24 after the first quarter. Despite Charlotte tying the game in the second, the Raptors capitalized on turnovers, initiating a 10-0 run that shifted momentum in their favor.

As the game progressed, both teams exchanged leads, but a late dunk from Barnes and Barrett's decisive layup ensured the Raptors held on for the win, preventing the Hornets from capitalizing on their final possession.

This narrow win highlights the Raptors' resilience as they continue their strong run in the league.
