Dhurandhar's Advance Ticket Sales Break Records

Dhurandhar's Advance Ticket Sales Break Records

Post by : Meena Hassan

As the release date approaches, just three days away, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is generating significant excitement among moviegoers. Advance bookings commenced on Monday for the inaugural weekend, initially set for 2,000 shows, with additional screens added to accommodate surging interest. The morning hours noted a flurry of ticket purchases, although sales experienced a slight taper by evening.

Within mere hours on Monday, the film had already surpassed the ₹1 crore mark in pre-sales. By Tuesday afternoon, the first day's collections soared to approximately ₹1.4 crore, with estimates suggesting weekend earnings might exceed ₹2 crore. This strong performance comes despite elevated ticket prices, averaging ₹310 for regular and IMAX formats. Premium screenings, especially at INOX Maison in Mumbai, priced at ₹1,620, quickly sold out for Friday, while tickets priced over ₹1,500 have been snatched up in cities like Gurgaon.

Industry experts remark that despite Dhurandhar’s encouraging advance sales, it will encounter fierce competition from notable action and spy films released earlier this year. Ranveer Singh previously saw Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani accumulate nearly ₹4 crore in pre-sales in 2023. Analysts are optimistic about Dhurandhar’s potential but acknowledge that achieving over ₹10 crore in advance sales is a tall order.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh as an undercover Indian spy entwined in the gangs of Lyari, Pakistan. The narrative draws on real events and includes notable historical figures from Pakistan’s contemporary timeline. The ensemble cast also features Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Sara Arjun. Dhurandhar is scheduled for theatrical release on December 5.
