Repeat Offender Removed from Lady Gaga Show in Australia

Post by : Meena Hassan

An Australian individual known for causing disruptions at high-profile events was removed from a Lady Gaga show in Brisbane before it commenced.

Johnson Wen, 26, took to Instagram to share that he was “kicked out” of Suncorp Stadium on Tuesday evening. Wen has a troubling history, including an incident where he grabbed Ariana Grande during the Asian premiere of Wicked: For Good in Singapore.

Recently, a Singaporean court sentenced Wen to a nine-day prison term for his actions against Grande, leading to a ban on his re-entry into the country. During the court proceedings, he assured the judge he would “not do it again,” yet concerns about his history of disruptions surfaced at the Brisbane venue.

Footage from the Lady Gaga concert captured Wen being escorted away by security, while audience reactions varied widely from applause to disapproval. Suncorp Stadium verified in a statement that Wen was regarded as a potential threat due to prior behavior, leading to his removal to protect the artist.

Wen's past includes interrupting performances by notable artists such as Katy Perry and The Weeknd. Authorities in Singapore had previously rebuked him for prioritizing personal notoriety over public safety.

The incident involving Grande spurred significant backlash in Singapore, with many fans accusing Wen of “re-traumatizing” the singer, who has openly discussed her struggles with PTSD stemming from the tragic 2017 Manchester concert bombing.
