Rhea Chakraborty Discusses Recovery, Faith, and Mental Wellbeing

Post by : Meena Hassan

Rhea Chakraborty’s past five years have been a distinct journey in the entertainment industry. The tragic loss of her ex-boyfriend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput, in 2020 led to her experiencing jail time and social ostracization. Recently, the CBI cleared her name, although this was not welcomed by Sushant’s family. The impact of these events significantly affected Rhea’s mental health, resulting in her facing PTSD.

Rhea noted that her public ordeal made others more receptive to discussing their own mental health struggles. “Many felt I could relate to their issues. Even long-time friends began to share their challenges with me only after my experience,” she mentioned.

When delving into her healing journey, Rhea shared, “Each morning and night, I consciously acknowledged what I was thankful for. At times, it felt challenging, yet I remained grateful for basic abilities like walking and seeing.”

She credits her resilience to her faith and spirituality. “I began reciting the Hanuman Chalisa in 2020, and I now say it at least seven times daily. It’s become a meaningful meditation practice for me,” she expressed. Furthermore, she found support in her friendships and conversations, which led her to create a podcast. “Sharing experiences is empowering. Individuals seek understanding, and finding a supportive community can facilitate healing,” she stated.

Rhea also tackled the stigma surrounding mental health, noting that many still label it as mere “drama” or assume one can “control their mind.” She stressed that genuine mental health challenges arise from chemical imbalances that individuals cannot tackle alone.
