Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli wrapped up their ODI careers in Australia on a high note during their final series. In the third and decisive match held at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the duo powered India to a comfortable victory while chasing down a target of 237 runs. Rohit remained untouched at 121 runs, while Kohli made a solid contribution of 74, sealing a remarkable 168-run partnership for the second wicket.

From the outset of the chase, the pair dictated the game with a mix of tactical play and aggression, leaving Australian bowlers struggling to find their rhythm. India triumphed by nine wickets with 69 balls remaining, allowing this veteran pair to exit Australian shores on a triumphant note. Their performance underlined their unmatched skill and leadership in the realm of limited-overs cricket.

Post-match discussions with Adam Gilchrist and Ravi Shastri revealed that this series marked their final ODI appearances in Australia. Rohit expressed his fondness for playing in Australia, reflecting, “I’ve always cherished my time here. It’s special to finish with such a performance.” Kohli echoed similar feelings regarding their experiences in Australia.

The duo reminisced about their varying experiences in Australia, sharing memories of iconic wins, personal achievements, and the challenges faced against formidable Australian teams. They expressed heartfelt appreciation for the lessons learned on these pitches over time, despite bidding farewell.

Although this ODI chapter in Australia concludes, both players are set to remain pivotal in India’s progression towards upcoming international tournaments and the 2027 World Cup in South Africa.
