Allegations of Gaza Aid Boat Sabotage Surface

Post by : Shakul

Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, the Menteri Besar of Selangor, has accused unknown entities of sabotaging a vessel intended for a humanitarian mission to Gaza, which reportedly sank before its scheduled departure. This incident has brought fresh scrutiny to the safety of international aid missions aimed at Gaza.

Amirudin, who is at the forefront of the Malaysian Emergency Aid Mission to Gaza, indicated that he was supposed to join the final part of the voyage. However, he stated that the boat was purportedly targeted prior to the mission's initiation.

Speaking to journalists in Kuala Lumpur, Amirudin asserted that the vessel was intentionally sunk, labelling it an act of sabotage. He implied that individuals associated with the Israeli government might have played a role, although no corroborating evidence has yet emerged publicly.

The Selangor political figure also hinted at two other sabotage incidents linked to the mission, with one occurring near Greek waters and the other near Turkey. His comments followed reports of activists linked to a Gaza-bound flotilla being detained and later released by Israeli officials.

Amirudin mentioned that 29 Malaysian activists involved in this humanitarian effort are anticipated to return home by the week's end. Representatives from various Malaysian humanitarian groups are reportedly en route to welcome them back after their release.

He further alleged that some activists faced harsh treatment and coercion after being intercepted in international waters. Despite these difficulties, the humanitarian mission is committed to raising global consciousness about the dire situation in Gaza.

Amirudin insisted that efforts to provide humanitarian assistance and highlight the situation in Gaza would persist. He revealed that Malaysia is awaiting confirmation regarding the arrival of 20 containers filled with humanitarian aid intended for Gaza.

These allegations of sabotage have sparked broader discussions online regarding the safety of humanitarian flotilla missions, amidst escalating tensions surrounding Gazan aid operations.
