Saiyaara Leads the Pack in 2025’s Indian Film Rankings

Post by : Meena Hassan

The cinematic landscape of 2025 has marked a significant milestone for Indian films. According to IMDb's latest annual list, Saiyaara, featuring fresh talents Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has secured its position as the most popular Indian film this year. With production by YRF and direction by Mohit Suri, the film has received international recognition for its compelling narrative and hit soundtrack.

The rankings released by IMDb are influenced by visits from over 250 million global users each month, showcasing what captivates audiences worldwide in both films and series.

Following Saiyaara, the animated film Mahavatar Narsimha took the second spot, while Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava ranked third. Rishab Shetty's Kantara: A Legend rounded out the fourth position. The top ten also included Rajinikanth’s Coolie, the Tamil film Dragon, Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, Shahid Kapoor’s Deva, Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2, and the Malayalam entry Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.

In the realm of web series, Aryan Khan's The Ba*ds of Bollywood** clinched the top rank. Aryan remarked, “Being number one feels just right. It's evident the series has transcended mere weekend views to become a quintessential part of cultural discourse.”

Coming in at second place is filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane’s Black Warrant, with the third spot going to Paatal Lok Season 2. Popular fan series like Panchayat Season 4, Mandala Murders, and Khauf occupy the next positions, while Special Ops Season 2 and Khakee: The Bengal Chapter round out the rankings. This year’s lists are notably rich in crime thrillers.

Yaminie Patodia, Head of IMDb India, commented that the 2025 selections showcase outstanding creativity not just in storytelling, but across various languages and genres in Indian cinema.
