Saiyaara Clinches Popular Choice Award at Yellowstone Film Festival 2025

Post by : Meena Hassan

Saiyaara, a leading romantic film in Indian cinema, has been awarded the Popular Choice Award at the Yellowstone International Film Festival 2025. This musical drama, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has grossed nearly ₹570 crore globally since its debut on July 18. Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF), it has made a significant impact.

Mohit Suri Shares His Insights

Director Mohit Suri, celebrated for successes like Aashiqui 2 and Kalyug, called this accolade particularly meaningful, as it is his first award in a two-decade career. Reflecting on his journey, he mentioned watching the seminal Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in his childhood, which inspired his filmmaking aspirations.

At the award event in Mumbai, Suri expressed his heartfelt thanks to YRF’s CEO Akshaye Widhani for his unwavering support. “Akshaye, I owe this to you,” said Suri, reminiscing about his pitch for the Saiyaara script to YRF chairman Aditya Chopra and Widhani, who promptly approved the project.

YRF Celebrates Saiyaara's Success

The film's title track achieved a remarkable feat, becoming the first Hindi song to enter the Billboard Top 10 globally, solidifying its international acclaim. The strong debut of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda has drawn parallels to the launch of Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai (2000).

YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani commended Suri's vision, stating, “As the highest-grossing love story of all time, this film makes us immensely proud. Mohit has excelled, and this award belongs to the entire cast and crew who poured their efforts into this production.”

With both critical success and box-office achievements, Saiyaara is reshaping contemporary Indian cinema, setting benchmark standards for romantic narratives on the big screen.
