Saudi Arabia Dominates UAE to Secure a Spot in Islamic Games Handball Final

The Saudi men’s handball squad has sealed their place in the final of the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games (Riyadh 2025) following a commanding performance against the United Arab Emirates. The semifinal match culminated in a decisive victory for Saudi Arabia, who triumphed over the UAE team with a score of 29–15. This win means that the Saudi team is just one match away from the coveted gold medal, set to face Bahrain in the final.

The game was a showcase of the Saudi players’ strength and skill, reflecting their determination as they approached this pivotal semifinal. Their impressive performance emphasized their focus on the championship.

In the initial half, both teams played energetically with robust defensive strategies. The UAE side aimed to keep pace with the Saudi players and managed to stay competitive during the opening minutes. However, as the first half progressed, Saudi Arabia began to assert their dominance.

Saudi Arabia wrapped up the first half leading 10–8. Despite the narrow margin, the players exhibited confidence and tactical cohesion, effectively creating scoring opportunities while maintaining strong defense.

The UAE attempted various counterattacks, but the Saudi defense held firm and well-organized. The first half ended with Saudi Arabia in the lead, but both teams remained in contention.

The second half saw the Saudi team take complete control. They returned invigorated and quickly escalated the game's pace, scoring continuously. The UAE struggled to keep up with the relentless pace and aggression displayed by the Saudi players.

In the second half, Saudi Arabia outpaced the UAE 19–5 in scoring, a testament to their preparation, fitness, and teamwork across all roles—offense, defense, and goalkeeping. They dominated possession, generated multiple scoring chances, and made it difficult for the UAE to recover.

As the match progressed, the Saudi lead widened significantly, and the UAE found it increasingly challenging to stem their attacks. The final score settled at 29–15, marking a definitive and impressive win for Saudi Arabia.

This semifinal triumph advances the Saudi handball team to the final against Bahrain, a nation known for its seasoned handball squad, setting the stage for an exhilarating conclusion to the tournament.

With their semifinal success, the Saudi players and coaching staff are poised to compete for gold, bringing heightened expectations from fans who are hopeful for continued success.

In tandem with the handball competition, the Islamic Solidarity Games are also showcasing various sports, including the ongoing fencing events involving men’s and women’s teams. Saudi fencers are competing across three categories: foil, épée, and sabre.

These tournaments unite exceptional fencers from the Islamic community, as Saudi Arabia aims for outstanding performances in all disciplines. The fencing competitions contribute to the Games' excitement, featuring a diverse array of sports and athletes from many nations.

Saudi Arabia’s remarkable display at the Islamic Solidarity Games continues to captivate supporters, with the handball team's victory over the UAE standing out as a highlight. As the final approaches, anticipation builds around the team’s potential championship win.
