The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has announced that the Kingdom is fully equipped to cater to the heightened need for sacrificial animals during the Hajj 1447 AH season.
According to the ministry, a strong livestock production system exists in the Kingdom, supported by a national inventory of over 22 million sheep, 7.6 million goats, 2.2 million camels, and 510,000 cattle. This significant stock helps bolster food security and promotes self-sufficiency throughout Saudi Arabia.
Officials highlighted the advanced animal health protocols and disease prevention measures in place, ensuring the safety and quality of livestock throughout the busy Hajj period.
The ministry confirmed that livestock markets and slaughterhouses in Makkah are primed to provide pilgrims with a plentiful supply of premium sacrificial animals. Health monitoring teams and inspection campaigns have been ramped up to guarantee adherence to safety and health standards.
These initiatives aim to safeguard public health, maintain product quality, and facilitate seamless services for the millions of pilgrims expected during Hajj.
