Saudi Team Wins Eight Medals at Dubai Asian Youth Para Games

The Saudi team delivered an impressive performance on the opening day of the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, winning a total of eight medals. The team secured one gold, five silver, and two bronze medals on Wednesday, marking a successful start to the championship. The 5th edition of the AYPG opened at the Dubai Club for People of Determination in the presence of Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee and head of the Saudi delegation. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, and Majid Rashed, President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, also attended the ceremony along with officials from various Asian nations.

Saudi swimmers had a remarkable start at the Hamdan Sports Complex. Hussein Al-Rashed won a gold medal and a bronze medal, while Ibrahim Al-Marzouki added three more medals to the team’s tally. In the junior category, Abdulrahman Asiri earned a silver medal, strengthening the team’s strong presence in swimming events. In weightlifting, the Saudi athletes secured two silver medals, won by Fajr Al-Smry and Talal Al-Balawi, showcasing their growing talent in the para sports arena.

During the opening ceremony, track and field athletes Al-Baraa Al-Qarni and Motairah Al-Shammari proudly carried the Saudi flag. The event brought together participants from 35 Asian countries and featured cultural performances that highlighted the history of Paralympic sports, along with traditional Emirati folkloric shows. The strong start by the Saudi delegation reflects the country’s rising dedication to supporting young athletes with determination and promoting excellence across various international events.
