Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Engages in Key UNGA Meetings to Boost Global Cooperation

Post by : Saif Al-Najjar

RIYADH/NEW YORK: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, actively participated in several important meetings on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) this week. His engagements included the G20 foreign envoys’ gathering, which was chaired by South Africa, along with other high-level ministerial discussions.

Prince Faisal emphasized the vital role of international cooperation in addressing today’s political and economic challenges. According to reports from the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), he highlighted the importance of multilateral institutions such as the UN and the G20. He described these organizations as essential platforms for countries to work together and solve global problems.

“The world today faces rising inequality, economic disruptions affecting millions of people, increasing regional and international tensions, and repeated violations of international law. These challenges threaten global stability and slow down sustainable development,” Prince Faisal said during his discussions.

In addition to the G20 meeting, Prince Faisal attended the ministerial-level meeting of the Arab Summit Troika. He met with South Korea’s Foreign Minister, Cho Hyun, who is also serving as the President of the UN Security Council for September 2025. They discussed ways to coordinate multilateral work to strengthen regional and international cooperation on pressing issues.

Prince Faisal also met with Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Xavier Bettel. During the meeting, the two ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations, marking a step forward in strengthening bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Luxembourg. They also explored new strategies to expand collaboration in various sectors.

Saudi Arabia’s active presence at these side meetings reflects the kingdom’s commitment to multilateral diplomacy and constructive international engagement. Prince Faisal’s remarks and meetings underline the importance of shared responsibility among nations to address global challenges such as economic inequality, political instability, and violations of international law.

Experts say that Saudi Arabia’s efforts at the UNGA not only strengthen its ties with other countries but also reinforce its role as a key participant in shaping regional and global policies. By participating in high-level discussions and signing cooperation agreements, Saudi Arabia signals its commitment to working with partners worldwide to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development.

Prince Faisal’s meetings at the UNGA demonstrate a proactive approach to diplomacy, where collaboration and dialogue are prioritized to find solutions to the complex challenges facing the world today.
