This impressive win gave the Saudi squad a solid start to the competition, generating a positive vibe for the remainder of the tournament, characterized by teamwork and technical proficiency throughout the match.

The venue, Prince Faisal bin Fahad Olympic Complex, witnessed an exciting showdown as spectators enjoyed a high-paced contest. Both teams exhibited determination, particularly in the initial half. Saudi Arabia gradually took command through formidable defense and precise scoring. By the second half, they managed to extend their lead, thwarting any comeback attempts by Iraq. The final score, 33–21, underscored the Saudi team's skill and discipline.

With this opening win, the Saudi handball team is now gearing up for their next match against Bahrain today. Known for their seasoned handball prowess, Bahrain poses a significant challenge, making this upcoming game crucial. The Saudi squad aims to maintain their winning streak as they progress towards the knockout stages, with focused preparation ahead of this critical clash.

Alongside the handball action, the Saudi duathlon team also competed at the Islamic Solidarity Games. Athlete Karmah Al-Jaroudi represented the nation in the Duathlon “Sprint” category, held at Al-Rimal Park in Janadriyah, where participants tackled both running and cycling. Despite facing stiff competition, Karmah secured a respectable 13th place with a finishing time of 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 20 seconds.

The sprint duathlon demands exceptional endurance and concentration. Throughout the race, Karmah showcased tenacity, maintaining a consistent pace in running and pushing her limits during the cycling segment. Her participation marks a meaningful contribution to Saudi Arabia's evolving engagement in women's sports, highlighting support for female athletes on the international stage. This experience will undoubtedly benefit her in future events.

The duathlon competitions are set to continue today, featuring Saudi athlete Abdulrahman Al-Ghamdi in the men’s 27.5 km event, a rigorous test of stamina expected to challenge the participants significantly. Al-Ghamdi aims to excel and better Saudi Arabia’s standing in this category, with hopes pinned on a stellar performance.

The Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh unite athletes from diverse nations, fostering sportsmanship, unity, and collaborative spirit. Saudi Arabia’s active participation in events like handball and duathlon reflects the country’s dedication to nurturing its sports landscape and empowering athletes. The successful handball opener and the commendable duathlon efforts signal encouraging prospects for the duration of the tournament.
