The high-level session of the Saudi Arabia-UK Strategic Dialogue on International Development and Humanitarian Assistance concluded on Tuesday in London. The two-day session focused on strengthening cooperation, sharing technical expertise, and addressing pressing global humanitarian challenges.
Dr. Ziad Memish, Senior Advisor for Medical and Humanitarian Research at the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom. He emphasized that the collaboration plays a vital role in achieving tangible humanitarian accomplishments worldwide and improving development outcomes.
During the discussions, both sides reviewed ongoing workstreams and explored actionable steps to improve efficiency and impact. The session stressed the need for innovative and sustainable solutions to tackle urgent global needs. Dr. Memish noted that combining the UK’s global experience with Saudi Arabia’s comprehensive humanitarian efforts could create significant benefits for communities in need.
Representatives from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), and KSrelief actively participated, demonstrating the Kingdom’s commitment to international development and humanitarian initiatives. The dialogue focused on promoting long-term partnerships, improving resource allocation, and implementing projects that respond to emergencies effectively.
Dr. Memish also stated that the session is just the beginning of further collaboration. He highlighted the importance of building on progress to create greater impact in both development and humanitarian sectors. Knowledge sharing, strategic planning, and innovative solutions were identified as key tools to save more lives and improve living conditions globally.
The strategic dialogue also explored ways to strengthen international partnerships and foster new initiatives.
