Sharjah is making significant strides in its media and creative sectors. On Wednesday, in a ceremony attended by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, 14 strategic agreements were signed with key institutions across the emirate.

Held at the Sharjah Media City headquarters, these partnerships aim to bolster the film industry, enhance creative content production, and lay down a comprehensive media ecosystem that positions Sharjah as a significant global media hub.

Strengthening Media Collaborations

His Highness commended the collaborative efforts among various government sectors, stressing that such unity would uplift professional standards, foster new media skills, and align the emirate with international media advancements.

He emphasized that this collaboration would unify Sharjah's media messaging, reflecting its cultural identity and development aspirations while attracting further investment in the field.

Partners in Progress

The partnerships encompass collaborations with various government and private entities, including:

  • Sharjah Police

  • Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security

  • Sharjah International Airport Authority

  • Environment and Protected Areas Authority

  • Sharjah Digital Department

  • Sharjah Civil Defence Authority

  • BEEAH Group

  • Sharjah Municipality

  • Sharjah Archaeology Authority

  • Sharjah Museums Authority

  • Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq)

  • Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority

  • Air Arabia Group

  • Invest Bank

These partnerships signify Sharjah's comprehensive approach to fostering media growth across multiple sectors including security, environment, digital, and tourism.

Distinguished Guests in Attendance

The event saw the attendance of notable dignitaries, including:

  • Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Digital Department

  • Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority

Support for SHAMS Studios Initiative

Central to these agreements is a pledge to support the SHAMS Studios project, anticipated to become a leading hub for media production in the region. It is integral to Sharjah’s strategy to enhance its media infrastructure and establish its prominence in film production.

The aim is to create a seamless environment for filmmakers, startups, and content creators via state-of-the-art facilities. This approach is intended to retain top local and international talent.

SHAMS Studios will provide a range of resources for media production, including:

  • Pre-production assistance

  • Filming spaces

  • Post-production capabilities

  • Editing and visual effects services

  • Audio and sound design facilities

This infrastructure is essential for transforming innovative ideas into high-quality media projects that meet global standards while nurturing emerging talent in Sharjah.

Innovative Studio Infrastructure

His Highness reviewed a comprehensive presentation concerning the SHAMS Studios' design, featuring five studios ranging from 1,500 to 3,400 square meters, tailored for substantial film projects and high-level creative works.

These studios will also incorporate specialized areas for:

  • visual effects

  • editing units

  • sound design

Such resources are vital for producing films, digital campaigns, and advertisements that meet international benchmarks.

Enhancing Sharjah's Global Reputation

With these partnerships and the advent of SHAMS Studios, Sharjah is poised to emerge as a primary center for film and media production. The emirate aims to attract:

  • international movie makers

  • media production houses

  • creative ventures

  • content developers
