Following the conclusion of the Varanasi shooting schedule in late October, the production team of Mirzapur: The Film has relocated to Jaisalmer to continue filming, set to last until mid-December. Actor Shweta Tripathi has shared her feelings about re-entering the franchise and reprising her role as Golu Gupta.
Returning to the set felt like a poignant reunion for Shweta, who has inhabited Golu for nearly a decade. She noted that slipping back into the character's world was a blend of nostalgia and familiarity. During the look test, she felt a renewed connection, realizing the profound bond she has established with Golu over the years. Simple pleasures, such as enjoying Varanasi chaat and revisiting beloved filming locations, amplified her sense of coming home.
Varanasi holds significant personal value for Shweta Tripathi. Her early career was notably impacted by shooting Masaan (2015) there, and returning for another major project felt almost serendipitous. Shweta expressed that Varanasi serves as a grounding force for her, symbolizing a full-circle journey. She also mentioned that her maternal grandfather studied in the city, creating an emotional and cultural connection long before her career took off. Each visit to Varanasi brings with it a sense of spiritual reassurance and connection.
The transition of Mirzapur to the big screen has generated substantial excitement among the cast and crew. Shweta described the atmosphere as a mix of anxiety and eagerness, labeling this transition as a “new chapter” for everyone involved. The team’s hopes for the film’s success extend beyond personal ambition; it embodies a shared pride and collaborative spirit that defines the Mirzapur family. According to her, the strength of the franchise is rooted in the way cast members support one another and contribute to the overarching story.
Moving filming to Jaisalmer introduces a visually stunning element to the project. The city’s desert vistas, ancient forts, and vast landscapes promise to add a new dimension to the cinematic experience while retaining the gritty essence that fans love about Mirzapur. The extended filming schedule suggests pivotal scenes will play out against the dramatic scenery of Rajasthan, enriching the narrative for theatrical audiences.
As production proceeds, Mirzapur: The Film continues to be among the most anticipated projects in Indian cinema. Shweta Tripathi's heartfelt insights and the cast's ongoing work in Jaisalmer reinforce the notion that this film aims to blend familiar warmth with fresh narratives. Audiences can look forward to a potent mix of nostalgia, expanded storytelling, and the signature intensity that has made the franchise a cultural phenomenon.
