Soha Ali Khan Describes Lively Family Dinners and Sibling Paths

Post by : Meena Hassan

Actor Soha Ali Khan recently offered a personal view of family mealtimes, recounting seldom-heard stories about her late parents, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore. She belongs to a family prominent in cinema and cricket, connected to figures such as Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Amrita Singh, Sara Ali Khan and her mother Sharmila Tagore.

Entertaining Family Dinners

Soha said her husband, Kunal Kemmu, and sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor frequently become the most animated voices at family dinners.

"When a table includes many actors, conversations often turn to our own lives and work. Still, some people light up the evening more than others. Kareena and Kunal are usually the ones who make everyone laugh," she said.

She added that their humour is shaped by shared early experiences and time spent abroad. "Part of our sense of humour comes from growing up the way we did — and perhaps some of it is inherited from my father. Studying and living in England also gave us a self-deprecating streak and an easy rapport," Soha noted.

Reflections on Siblings and Childhood

Soha reflected on the different directions taken by her siblings. She recalled that Saif attended Winchester as a boarder, while she pursued university studies; Saif later moved into films and ultimately shifted to Mumbai. She described Saba as more artistically inclined, having studied at the Delhi College of Art and the Gemological Institute of America for jewellery design, and preferring creative, behind-the-scenes work such as photography.

Soha, daughter of former cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and actor Sharmila Tagore, married actor Kunal Kemmu on January 25, 2015. The couple has one daughter, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, who was born on September 29, 2017.
