Spain and Morocco Strengthen Ties at High-Level Meeting

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez held a meeting on Thursday with Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, who arrived in Madrid to take part in the 13th session of the High-Level Meeting between the two nations. The visit highlights the growing partnership between Spain and Morocco, as both countries continue to work closely on political, economic, and social cooperation. During the discussions, the two leaders reaffirmed the strong friendship and excellent bilateral relations that have linked their nations for many years.

The meeting served as an important opportunity to review progress made since the adoption of the 2022 roadmap, which outlines key areas of cooperation between the two sides. Both leaders agreed that evaluating these priority files must be done with full transparency, continuous consultation, and mutual trust. They stressed that maintaining this spirit of openness is essential for achieving shared goals and addressing any challenges that may arise.

Prime Minister Sanchez and Prime Minister Akhannouch also highlighted the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between Spain and Morocco. They agreed that active parliamentary dialogue plays a crucial role in supporting government actions and ensuring that both nations can move forward with their joint projects. Strengthening these mechanisms will help both sides fulfill their commitments more effectively while ensuring smoother coordination across all levels of cooperation.

The meeting also reinforced the value of long-term collaboration as Spain and Morocco continue to expand their partnership in areas such as trade, migration management, cultural exchange, and regional stability. By building on the solid foundation already in place, both leaders expressed confidence that the relationship between their countries will continue to grow stronger.

Spain and Morocco’s commitment to regular dialogue and shared progress reflects their mutual desire to build a stable, prosperous future for their people. With continued cooperation, both governments aim to advance key initiatives that support development, strengthen ties, and promote regional harmony.
