Indian airline SpiceJet has announced 14 special flights from the United Arab Emirates to India on March 6 to help passengers stranded due to widespread flight cancellations caused by the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict.
The airline shared the update on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on March 5, saying the additional services aim to improve travel options for Indian passengers stuck in the region after several airlines reduced or cancelled flights due to airspace restrictions across West Asia.
Flights From Fujairah and Dubai
According to the airline, 13 of the 14 special flights will depart from Fujairah, while one flight will operate from Dubai.
The scheduled routes include:
Nine flights to Mumbai
Four flights to Delhi
One flight from Dubai to Pune
These services are primarily intended to clear the backlog of passengers waiting for flights to India after routine commercial services were disrupted.
Part Of Ongoing Relief Operations
The newly announced flights come after several days of evacuation-style operations by SpiceJet. Over the previous three days, the airline operated 25 special flights from the UAE to India, transporting passengers to cities including Delhi, Mumbai, and Kochi.
According to reports, the airline is working with authorities as part of India’s broader efforts to assist citizens affected by flight disruptions across the Middle East.
Ticket Prices On Emergency Routes
Due to limited availability and last-minute scheduling, ticket prices on these emergency routes remain significantly higher than normal.
As of March 6:
A ticket from Fujairah to Delhi is priced at around ₹93,374.
Travellers booking last-minute seats on these special flights can expect fares between ₹78,000 and ₹94,000, depending on the route, travel date, and remaining seat availability.
Why Extra Flights Are Needed
The ongoing tensions in West Asia have caused massive disruption to air travel. Reports indicate that around 1,770 flights on India–West Asia routes were cancelled between February 28 and March 5, affecting thousands of passengers across the Gulf region.
Several airlines including IndiGo, Air India, Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Qatar Airways have either cancelled flights or rerouted services due to restricted airspace.
With many passengers still waiting for travel options, these special SpiceJet flights are expected to help reduce the number of stranded Indian travellers until normal flight schedules resume.
