The sixth round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States will happen this Sunday in Muscat, the capital of Oman, according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry.
So far, both countries have had five indirect rounds of talks since April—three in Muscat and two in Rome. These talks focus on Iran’s nuclear program and lifting U.S. sanctions. The last round was held in Rome on May 23.
At the end of May, the U.S. sent a proposal to Iran through Oman regarding a possible nuclear agreement.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, said the U.S. offer wasn’t a result of the previous meetings. He added that Iran will respond with its own proposal, also through Oman.
Baghaei made it clear that Iran will not accept any proposal that ignores its national rights—especially its right to peaceful nuclear energy and relief from sanctions.
He also mentioned that Iran’s upcoming proposal will be fair, logical, and well-balanced. He called on the U.S. to take it seriously, saying that accepting this proposal would benefit the United States as well.
