Tere Ishk Mein surges beyond ₹60 crore in just four days

Post by : Meena Hassan

Tere Ishk Mein, featuring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, has shown remarkable staying power at the Indian box office, establishing itself as a solid entrant for the season. Despite a normal decline on Monday, the film has surpassed the ₹60-crore mark within four days since its release, reflecting strong viewer engagement across both urban and rural demographics. Early estimates indicate a collection of ₹8.25 crore on Monday, raising the cumulative total to ₹60.25 crore. The film enjoyed an impressive weekend, raking in ₹16 crore on opening day, ₹17 crore on Saturday, and a remarkable ₹18.75 crore on Sunday, driven by positive audience feedback.

The film’s performance is notable for its dual appeal. It has thrived in metropolitan hubs like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, where viewers have resonated with its emotional depth and musical score. Interestingly, it has also exceeded expectations in tier-2 and tier-3 towns, traditionally less inclined towards romantic narratives. This broad market acceptance facilitated a quicker ascent to the ₹50 crore milestone than most competitors in its genre.

Industry experts emphasize that hitting ₹50 crore in its debut weekend lays a solid groundwork for Tere Ishk Mein, though its endurance will be dictated by weekday revenue. Monday’s numbers showed a slight dip, which is typical for this genre; the following days will be crucial in assessing whether the film retains its audience or faces a sharper drop-off. Observers note that it is entering a competitive landscape, as the Ranveer Singh-led Dhurandhar hits theaters this week, projected to occupy numerous screens and potentially impact Tere Ishk Mein's performance in its second weekend.

This film marks the third partnership between Dhanush and director Anand L. Rai, who previously collaborated on Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re, both recognized for their emotionally-driven narratives. Anticipation was high prior to the release, bolstered by a trailer that showcased a complex love story centering on intense emotions—an increasingly popular theme in Hindi film. The film’s music, supported by an impactful soundtrack, has also played a key role in generating initial interest at the box office.

While Dhanush and Kriti Sanon’s performances have garnered praise for their passion, responses to the storytelling have varied. Some viewers have celebrated the raw emotional turmoil and dramatic stakes, while others feel the plot is weighed down by melodrama and lacks narrative coherence. Despite mixed reviews, the film's box office success indicates it has resonated well with its intended audience, particularly fans of intense romantic sagas.

With a strong start behind it, Tere Ishk Mein now faces a pivotal period ahead. The upcoming weekdays and the competition from new releases will be critical in determining whether the film maintains its momentum or experiences a sharper decline after its promising debut. For now, it remains a notable success with considerable support from audiences across various regions.
