Vietnamese President To Lam and his spouse, Ngo Phuong Ly, are embarking on an official trip to Thailand on May 27 and 28, celebrating a pivotal moment in diplomatic relations between the two Southeast Asian countries. This visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic friendship.
Thai officials regard this event as highly consequential as it marks the first official ASEAN visit by President To Lam since assuming office. The aim of the trip is to enhance political trust and broaden collaboration across various sectors between the two neighboring nations.
The agenda will emphasize fortifying the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Thailand and Vietnam. Leaders of both nations are anticipated to discuss cooperation in trade, investment, regional security, science, technology, innovation, and cultural exchanges.
The Prime Minister of Thailand will officially greet President To Lam at Government House in Bangkok, featuring a ceremonial reception and military honor guard, before high-level talks centered on regional stability, economic advancement, and future collaboration within ASEAN.
Participants can also expect the signing and exchange of several Memorandums of Understanding between Thai and Vietnamese organizations. Both leaders will unveil the commemorative logo acknowledging fifty years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Vietnam.
One of the major highlights will be the Thailand-Vietnam Business Forum, where business leaders and investors from both countries will delve into new investment avenues and deliberate on enhancing long-term economic partnerships. Thai firms operating in Vietnam are expected to directly present recommendations to Vietnamese authorities.
According to officials, this visit signifies the robust friendship and increasing trust between Thailand and Vietnam, particularly as ASEAN nations pursue closer regional cooperation amidst global economic and geopolitical challenges.
The Thai government is optimistic that this visit will usher in a new era in bilateral ties, thereby bolstering regional stability, economic resilience, and strategic connectivity for the future.
