Thailand and South Korea Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Post by : Shakul

Anutin Charnvirakul engaged in a phone discussion with Lee Jae Myung, marking a pivotal moment in the enhancement of ties between Thailand and South Korea. The South Korean President congratulated Anutin on his recent appointment while reaffirming the strategic importance of Thailand.

The dialogue centered on advancing talks for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which aims to enhance trade and investment while bolstering economic resilience amid global supply chain challenges. Thailand expressed eagerness to finalize the agreement soon, emphasizing its significance for sustainable economic partnership.

Cybersecurity was another focal point, with both leaders highlighting the necessity of amplifying efforts against online fraud and cybercrime. Their collaborative projects, such as the Thailand–Korea Breaking Chains initiative, are set to expand, enhancing technological training to combat digital scams and safeguard citizens.

Moreover, the leaders underscored the importance of expanding cultural collaborations, particularly in tourism, film, and entertainment. With cultural exchanges gaining traction, both nations agreed to enhance cooperation in creative industries. The Thai Prime Minister extended an invitation to the South Korean President for an official visit during the forthcoming ASEAN Summit, where they aim to finalize CEPA and other agreements.
