Review of The Family Man Season 3: A Blend of Action and Humor

Post by : Meena Hassan

The anticipated third season of The Family Man entered a competitive OTT landscape, striving for audience engagement. It mostly succeeds, delivering a blend of action, humor, and realistic family dynamics, yet it occasionally slips into predictability with a familiar cliffhanger ending.

Shrikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee) navigates the challenges of his strained marriage with Suchi (Priyamani) while caring for their astute children (Ashlesha Thakur and Vedant Sinha). An incident in the North East sends him fleeing with his family and assistant JK (Sharib Hashmi) as he contends with a notorious smuggler and assassin, Rukma (Jaideep Ahlawat), who collaborates with international operative Meera (Nimrat Kaur) for a looming attack.

The essence of The Family Man shines through, with its blend of suspense and humor remaining a highlight. The chemistry and banter between Shrikant and JK bring light moments, while the series allows characters to evolve and delve deeper into their lives. Characters such as JK and Zoya (Shreya Dhanwanthary) gain more nuance, and the villain Rukma is portrayed as complicated, balancing ruthlessness with human qualities.

Manoj Bajpayee delivers a commanding portrayal, conveying Shrikant's internal struggle and charm effectively. Jaideep Ahlawat adds depth as Rukma, combining threat with relatability. The rapport between Sharib Hashmi and Bajpayee is another significant asset, while Seema Biswas stands out as Prime Minister Basu.

Nevertheless, the season does have its flaws. Some humor feels excessively polished for social media appeal, resulting in predictability. The finale, featuring an abrupt cliffhanger, leaves viewers with unresolved questions—making it a unique yet disappointing conclusion for the series. While it entertains for the most part, the lack of closure at the end leaves a void.

In summary, Season 3 of The Family Man captivates with its signature blend of humor, excitement, and significant performances, yet predictable moments and an unsatisfying cliffhanger detract from its overall impact.
