Tkachuk's Overtime Heroics Lead Senators Past Jets 3-2

Post by : Meena Hassan

In a nail-biting finish, Brady Tkachuk emerged as the hero for the Ottawa Senators, scoring the game-winner just over two minutes into overtime, resulting in a 3-2 victory against the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night.

The pivotal moment came when Tim Stützle, showcasing his playmaking skills with three assists, located Tkachuk and delivered a precise pass that was blasted past Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck at Canada Life Centre.

Ottawa (15-13-1) received additional scoring from Nick Cousins and Jake Sanderson, while Linus Ullmark made 23 saves to secure the win. Winnipeg (15-15-2) found the net with contributions from defencemen Neal Pionk and Logan Stanley, with Hellebuyck recording 28 saves in his second game back from injury.

Despite a silent first period, the action picked up in the second, with Cousins snapping the scoreless streak with a quick wrist shot, but Pionk equalized with a strong shot from the blue line. Stanley then put the Jets ahead with his sixth goal of the season.

The Senators managed to force overtime late in the third period, thanks to a fortunate deflection from Sanderson's shot that found the back of the net. Ottawa ultimately claimed victory in overtime, keeping Winnipeg's recent struggles intact.

The Jets aim to recover on Wednesday against the St. Louis Blues, while Ottawa enjoys the momentum from this exhilarating road win.
