Yunnan, China – In a devastating accident in southwest China, eleven railway workers have tragically lost their lives, with two others sustaining injuries, as confirmed by local authorities on Thursday.
The incident took place early in the morning at the Luoyang Town station in Yunnan province. The train was engaged in seismic equipment testing when it struck construction workers who had mistakenly entered the track area. Local railway officials stated that the train was “passing normally through a curve inside the station” when the collision occurred.
Emergency response teams acted swiftly, transporting the injured workers to nearby hospitals for care. By midday, transportation in the area resumed typical operations.
Officials mentioned that the investigation into the accident is ongoing. Such industrial incidents are not uncommon in China, attributed to vague regulations and insufficient safety measures.
Authorities are emphasizing the need for strict adherence to safety protocols to avert similar incidents in the future.
