Abu Dhabi: Showcasing incredible batting prowess, Australian batsman Tim David decimated the bowling lineup of the Aspin Stallions as the UAE Bulls celebrated their inaugural Abu Dhabi T10 title at Zayed Cricket Stadium this Sunday. David’s thrilling performance of 98 runs, featuring 12 sixes and three fours, was pivotal in achieving an impressive 80-run win.
The Bulls started with Phil Salt (18 off 8) and James Vince, though Vince had to leave the field without scoring due to injury. While Salt set the stage, it was David who shone brightly, boasting a stellar strike rate of 326.66. His partnership with Rovman Powell (24 off 20) produced a sizable 128 runs, propelling the Bulls to a formidable total of 150/1 in their allotted 10 overs.
In response, the Stallions faced early challenges, including Andre Fletcher’s (2 off 3) retirement from the field and Sherfane Rutherford being dismissed for a duck by Fazalhaq Farooqi (1/2). Although skipper Rahmanullah Gurbaz contributed 18 off 15, the team struggled to maintain their momentum, ultimately finishing at 70/4. Notable bowling performances from Junaid Siddique (1/18), Iftikhar Ahmed (1/7), and Qais Ahmad (1/14) solidified the Bulls' commanding victory.
David's stellar season has not gone unnoticed, concluding the tournament with 393 runs in nine innings at an average of 65.50 and a remarkable strike rate above 263. His excellence earned him both the Batter of the Tournament and Player of the Tournament accolades. Other awards were claimed by Andrew Tye (Bowler of the Tournament, Vista Riders) and Junaid Siddique (UAE Player of the Tournament) for their consistent contributions throughout.
This significant victory for the UAE Bulls not only marked their first T10 title but also highlighted their prowess in power-hitting within the league. Fans and analysts praised David’s performance as one of the greatest seen in Abu Dhabi T10’s history, underscoring the rising excitement in short-format cricket across the region.
