The United Arab Emirates took part in the inaugural Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting on Sports, held under the theme “From Traditions to Innovations: Advancing Sports in ACD Nations.” This event was hosted alongside the 13th International Sports Forum, “Russia – Country of Sports,” in Samara, where ministers, senior officials, and representatives from international sports organizations came together to explore future sports partnerships across Asia.
Leading the UAE delegation was Ghanim Mubarak Al Hajeri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Sports. He engaged in discussions with officials from other ACD member states and representatives from various regional and international sporting organizations. This presence symbolizes the UAE's persistent dedication to fostering global sports cooperation and initiatives that drive innovation and youth engagement on the continent.
The primary focus of the ACD Ministerial Meeting was on enhancing sports collaboration among Asian countries. Participants deliberated on forming partnerships, sharing expertise, and creating collaborative programs that bolster the sports sector locally and globally. The session also served as a forum to explore new frameworks aimed at improving infrastructure, talent development, training processes, and sports management.
In his address, Al Hajeri underscored the UAE’s commitment, guided by its leadership, to propping up international collaboration across various domains, particularly sports. He remarked that sports transcend mere competition, serving as a universal medium that fosters friendships, understanding, and collaborations among people worldwide. This perspective aligns with the UAE’s overarching goal of advocating for peace, unity, and sustainable advancement through cultural and sports exchanges.
Furthermore, Al Hajeri highlighted the interplay between sports and dialogue, affirming that they foster mutual respect among nations. He articulated that sports fortify social bonds, embrace diversity, and nurture teamwork, which are pivotal for cultivating a more inclusive and peaceful world. The UAE's contribution at the ACD meeting signifies its belief in sports as a vital conduit for fostering unity and collective development.
Addressing the integration of technology in sports, Al Hajeri elaborated on its transformative role in enhancing athletic performance and refining training methodologies. He accentuated the significance of adopting artificial intelligence and data analytics to help athletes maximize their potential—asserting that technological progress will continually reshape how sports are engaged, taught, and organized.
Al Hajeri detailed the UAE’s National Sports Strategy, which aims to develop a modern, innovative sports ecosystem. This initiative is designed to cultivate local talent, enhance creativity, and support young athletes through specialized programs. He articulated that fostering an environment conducive to innovation will cultivate future sporting champions, ensuring the UAE’s position as a leader in sports both regionally and globally, aligned with the nation’s broader vision of sustainability and youth empowerment.
Emphasizing youth as the cornerstone of the UAE’s sports growth journey, Al Hajeri stated, “Youth are the driving force of the future, and investing in them promises sustainable sporting achievements and a positive societal impact.” He underlined the significance of supporting young athletes through educational, technological, and skills-enhancing programs to secure the sports sector’s future success.
The ACD Ministerial Meeting addressed pivotal areas such as the enhancement of sports infrastructure, identification of potential talent, and training programs for coaches and administrators. Participants also explored how to encourage community engagement in sports and improve accessibility across athletic activities. The discussions facilitated the exchange of insights on contemporary sports policies, innovative training techniques, and management practices to magnify efficiency and competitiveness in the industry.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on the necessity of cooperation among Asian nations to forge a more robust and vibrant sports landscape. It was agreed to pursue ongoing collaborative efforts to promote innovation, engage the youth, and facilitate cultural exchange through sports. The UAE reiterated its willingness to participate in joint initiatives and foster regional partnerships that further the objectives of the ACD, reaffirming its commitment to promoting health, unity, and sports excellence throughout Asia and beyond.
