UAE Leads the World in Digital Growth and Smart Technology

Post by : Mumtaaz Qadiri

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is becoming one of the top countries in the world for digital transformation. This success is because of the country’s clear vision for the future and strong national policies. The UAE has made digital innovation a key part of its plan for sustainable growth and a strong economy.

People Are at the Heart of Digital Change

Both public and private organizations in the UAE follow rules that put people first. They believe people are the most important part of digital transformation, not only as users but also as leaders. Many international reports show that the UAE is moving very fast in this area and ranks highly in global lists. This proves the country’s leading role in technology and smart digital change.

UAE Tops Global Telecom Infrastructure

According to the United Nations E-Government Survey 2024, the UAE ranked first in the world for its telecommunications infrastructure. The country scored a perfect 100 percent, showing that its digital networks are widespread and highly efficient. This means people and businesses can rely on strong and fast internet and communication systems.

Fastest Mobile Internet Speed in the World

The UAE also leads the world in mobile internet speed, according to the Speedtest Global Index by Ookla. From July 2024 to June 2025, the UAE held the first place globally. In June 2025, the average mobile internet download speed was 546.14 megabits per second. This speed is much faster than in other countries, showing how advanced the UAE’s internet services are.

Millions Use Digital Government Services

In 2024, the UAE government completed 173.7 million digital transactions. Over 57 million people used 1,419 government services online. These services include paying bills, renewing licenses, and applying for permits. The government also reported a high satisfaction rate of 91 percent from users, showing that most people are happy with these digital services.

UAE Cities Rank Among the Smartest in the World

UAE cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi rank very high in the IMD Smart City Index 2025. Dubai is the fourth smartest city worldwide and the first in the Arab world. Abu Dhabi is ranked fifth globally. These rankings reflect the progress made in smart infrastructure, digital services, and improving the quality of life for residents.

Leading the Region in AI Readiness

The UAE also leads the Arab region in the Government AI Readiness Index 2024 by Oxford Insights. This index looks at how ready governments are to use artificial intelligence, the strength of the technology sector, and the availability of data and infrastructure. The UAE is advancing well in all these areas, showing strong potential in AI development.

Investing in Artificial Intelligence and Innovation

Experts from the Interregional Centre for Strategic Analysis in Abu Dhabi say the UAE is working hard to become a regional leader in artificial intelligence. The country is investing in research, skills development, and new technologies to support growth in AI. These efforts will help the UAE remain a top player in digital innovation.

UAE Sets a Global Example in Digital Transformation

Officials and experts have told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the UAE is not only leading digital change in its region but also setting a global example in full digital transformation and innovation. The country’s success shows how combining technology with strong policies can create new opportunities.

Strong Digital Networks Support AI Growth

Rasha Abdo, Director of Strategic Client Team for the Middle East and North Africa at Infobip, said the UAE’s perfect score in telecom infrastructure shows its strong digital networks. She highlighted Dubai’s “360 Services” policy, which focuses on providing proactive and integrated services to people. This policy helps the UAE set new standards for digital service delivery in both government and private sectors.

People-First Digital Services with AI and Automation

Rasha Abdo also said the UAE’s digital services are designed with people in mind. AI and automated technologies are used by the government to improve services. The UAE is setting new global benchmarks, especially in important areas like banking, retail, and healthcare.

Creating Personalized Digital Experiences

Amjad Al Sabbagh, Group Vice-President for the Middle East and Africa at Sprinklr, explained that the UAE’s digital ecosystem is mature. It is not just about adopting new technology but about creating digital experiences that fit individual needs. Now, the focus includes understanding people’s future needs and adding a human touch to technology.

Digital Growth Drives Economic Development

Al Sabbagh added that designing services and digital transformation are key factors driving the UAE’s economic growth. The country aims to double the digital economy’s contribution to its GDP by 2030. Experts estimate that AI will add 13.6 percent to the GDP, worth around 100 billion US dollars. This will help diversify the economy and support sustainable innovation.

UAE’s Bright Digital Future

The UAE is a clear leader in digital transformation and smart technology. With strong government policies, fast internet, and advanced AI readiness, the country is creating a better future for its people. The focus on people-centered digital services and economic growth shows the UAE’s commitment to remaining a global pioneer in the digital world.
