UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Georgian Prime Minister His Excellency Irakli Kobakhidze in Tbilisi to discuss strengthening cooperation across key sectors. These include investment, the economy, agriculture, renewable energy, and sustainability. Both leaders emphasized that these areas are strategic priorities within their respective national development plans.
Focus on Economic Partnership
The discussions highlighted the growth of bilateral relations, particularly under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed by the UAE and Georgia in 2023. H.H. Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to implementing the agreement, which aims to enhance trade, investment, and economic collaboration. He stressed that this agreement provides a strong foundation for shared development and mutual prosperity.
Regional and Global Cooperation
The leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments. Both sides underlined the importance of promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development. H.H. Sheikh Mohamed highlighted that peace is the key to achieving prosperity and progress in the region and that the UAE remains committed to supporting stability in the Caucasus through strong partnerships.
Georgia Welcomes UAE Engagement
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze welcomed Sheikh Mohamed and expressed confidence that the visit would strengthen bilateral relations. He highlighted Georgia’s interest in expanding cooperation with the UAE and leveraging the country’s successful development model to achieve shared objectives and promote sustainable growth.
Signing of Key Agreement
During the visit, an agreement was exchanged between Eagle Hills – Abu Dhabi and Georgia’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Eagle Hills, signed on behalf of the UAE side, while Mariam Kvrivishvili, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, signed for Georgia. This agreement further strengthens joint investment and development initiatives between the two countries.
High-Level Delegation Participation
The talks were attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President, several UAE ministers and senior officials, along with a number of Georgian ministers and officials. This high-level participation reflects the significance both nations place on deepening cooperation.
Outlook for UAE-Georgia Relations
Both sides expressed optimism regarding the future of UAE–Georgia relations. They noted favorable conditions for collaboration and joint initiatives that will stimulate economic development in both countries. The discussions and agreements are expected to create new avenues for trade, investment, and sustainable projects, reinforcing the long-term partnership between the UAE and Georgia.
