UAE, Syria Presidents Discuss Economic & Regional Ties

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, received His Excellency Ahmad Al-Sharaa, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, who arrived in Abu Dhabi on a working visit. The meeting took place today at Qasr Al Shati, one of the UAE president’s official residences.

Warm Reception at Al Bateen Airport

Earlier in the day, the Syrian president landed in Abu Dhabi, where he was warmly received at Al Bateen Airport. His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed President Al-Sharaa along with several senior UAE officials. This warm reception reflected the importance of the visit and the growing ties between both nations.

Focus on Brotherly Relations Between the UAE and Syria

During the meeting, President Sheikh Mohamed and President Al-Sharaa discussed the strong and historic ties that unite their two countries. They talked about ways to enhance cooperation, especially in development and economic fields, in a way that serves the mutual interests of both nations and benefits their peoples.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the deep-rooted fraternal relationship between the UAE and Syria. He expressed the UAE’s willingness to work hand-in-hand with Syria to support progress, stability, and prosperity.

Expanding Economic and Development Cooperation

Both leaders emphasized the importance of economic and development collaboration. They discussed opportunities where both countries can work together on infrastructure, investment, technology, and other key sectors. The goal is to create new avenues of growth that positively impact both Syrian and Emirati citizens.

They agreed that building stronger economic ties could help both countries recover and grow stronger in the long run, especially in today’s fast-changing global landscape.

Commitment to Regional Peace and Stability

A major point of discussion was the current situation in the Middle East. The leaders exchanged views on various regional issues and highlighted the need to promote peace, security, and stability across the Arab world.

Support for the Syrian People

President Sheikh Mohamed clearly stated the UAE’s firm and consistent support for the Syrian people. He said the UAE stands by all efforts aimed at helping Syrians achieve their hopes for a stable, developed, and bright future.

This support includes humanitarian assistance, rebuilding efforts, and strengthening diplomatic engagement. The UAE's leadership has always expressed a strong commitment to the well-being of the Syrian people and to contributing positively to their recovery.

Syria Grateful for UAE’s Continued Support

President Ahmad Al-Sharaa expressed deep appreciation for the UAE's continued support for Syria. He thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohamed for his visionary leadership, his commitment to Arab unity, and his efforts to build bridges of friendship.

President Al-Sharaa also praised the UAE’s generous humanitarian efforts and its role in international forums to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the Syrian people. He wished the UAE continued progress, peace, and success.

Several prominent Emirati leaders and senior officials attended the meeting at Qasr Al Shati. Among them were

  • Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence

  • Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE Football Association

  • Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security

  • Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President

  • Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the President’s Office for Strategic Affairs and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office

  • Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority

  • Several other sheikhs and senior government figures

Their attendance signified the importance of this visit and the strong UAE-Syria relationship.

Senior Syrian Officials Join the Visit

Accompanying President Al-Sharaa was a high-level Syrian delegation that included key figures in the Syrian government. Among them was Asaad Al-Shaibani, Syria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, along with several other senior Syrian officials. Their participation in the discussions reflected Syria’s readiness to work more closely with the UAE in areas of common interest.

Turning Diplomatic Relations into Practical Results

This visit is an important step in reviving and deepening ties between Syria and the UAE. The discussions went beyond symbolic gestures and focused on practical cooperation, aiming to turn shared values and diplomatic goodwill into real-life progress for both nations.
