The European Tour Group has announced that the United Arab Emirates will be the proud host of the European Tour Group Sustainability Awards 2025. The awards will take place on 12th November in Dubai as part of the DP World Tour Championship, which is the season-ending event of the Race to Dubai. This special occasion will put the spotlight on sustainability efforts in the world of golf while also highlighting Dubai as a global hub for green innovation.
Event Will Honour Global Winners
The awards ceremony will not just focus on Europe but will honour winners from Europe, the Middle East, and the rest of the world. It will cover five key categories:
From each geographical region, one winner will be selected. This approach ensures that sustainability efforts from across the globe are recognized and celebrated equally.
Hybrid Ceremony For Greater Reach
The ceremony in Dubai will be held in a hybrid format, meaning that people can join both in person and online. This makes the event more accessible for international participants who cannot travel but still wish to take part. By using this model, the European Tour Group is showing its commitment to inclusivity and innovation while reducing the environmental impact of travel.
Entries Open Until October 2025
Those who wish to participate in the awards can send in their projects and initiatives until midnight on 2nd October 2025. The projects must relate to sustainability work that has been carried out between 1st September 2024 and 1st October 2025. This gives organizations, venues, and companies from around the world a full year to demonstrate their green progress and innovation.
Expert Judges On The Panel
The winners will be chosen by a panel of judges made up of experts in golf tournament operations and sustainability. The panel will also include members from the GEO Sustainable Golf Foundation, a respected organization that works globally to make golf more environmentally friendly. Their involvement ensures that the judging process is fair, credible, and focused on genuine sustainability achievements.
Middle East Strongly Represented
Nine golf tournaments in the Middle East are eligible to compete for these prestigious awards, including seven tournaments held in the UAE. This shows how the region, and especially the UAE, has become a major player in both world-class golf and sustainability efforts. Hosting such an event further strengthens Dubai’s reputation as a leader in eco-friendly sporting initiatives.
Focus On Green Drive Programme
The European Tour Group is not only hosting awards but is also deeply committed to sustainability through its Green Drive programme. This programme has two major goals:
To cut greenhouse gas emissions from operations and tournaments by 50% by 2030.
To reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
This shows how seriously the Tour is working to make golf more sustainable in the long term, using innovation, collaboration, and clear goals to create measurable impact.
Dubai’s Role In Global Sustainability
By hosting the Sustainability Awards 2025, Dubai will once again place itself on the global stage as a champion of eco-friendly initiatives. The city has been working to grow its reputation not only as a hub for international events but also as a leader in green practices. The DP World Tour Championship already attracts some of the best golfers in the world, and adding this awards ceremony will shine an even brighter spotlight on sustainability in sport.
Celebrating Innovation In Golf
The awards are designed to highlight the innovative projects happening across the golf world. From reducing plastic use in stadiums, to making catering more sustainable, to introducing smart technology that lowers energy use, these projects inspire others to take action. By rewarding such initiatives, the European Tour Group hopes to encourage more creativity and responsibility in the sports industry.
Building A Sustainable Sports Future
Sports have a major influence on society, and golf is no exception. With millions of fans and large-scale events, the environmental footprint of golf can be significant. That is why it is so important for organizations like the European Tour Group to lead the way in showing how sports can be greener. The Sustainability Awards 2025 are part of a much bigger vision to make sports events sustainable, efficient, and future-ready.
Opportunity For Regional Growth
For the Middle East, these awards are an opportunity to strengthen its leadership in global sustainability. With nine tournaments eligible, the region is already active in promoting eco-friendly sports practices. The UAE, in particular, has shown consistent commitment to organizing world-class events that also focus on sustainability. This creates opportunities for local companies, innovators, and venues to showcase their projects on an international platform.
A Step Towards Global Awareness
The European Tour Group Sustainability Awards 2025 are more than just a competition. They are a way to raise awareness about the urgent need for sustainable action in every sector. By focusing on golf, the awards highlight how even traditional sports can transform into leaders of positive environmental change. This is especially important as the world faces growing challenges from climate change and resource scarcity.
UAE Leads With Green Vision
The upcoming Sustainability Awards in Dubai mark a historic moment for both the UAE and the global golf community. Scheduled for November 2025, the event will honour outstanding achievements in eco-friendly practices across the world. With its Green Drive programme and strong focus on innovation, the European Tour Group is sending a clear message: sustainability is not just an option, but a responsibility. By hosting these awards, the UAE continues to strengthen its role as a global leader in sustainability, sports, and innovation.
