Sheikh Nahyan Highlights UAE Commitment to Palestinian Support at Taawon Dinner

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended the annual dinner hosted by Taawon at the Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The event gathered humanitarian leaders, stakeholders from international organizations, and private-sector representatives, emphasizing the UAE's ongoing commitment to Palestinian causes and the impactful work of Taawon in the region.

At the ceremony, Sheikh Nahyan commended Taawon’s national vision and its dedication to supporting the Palestinian people. He spotlighted the Noor Programme, noted as the region’s foremost orphan-care initiative, which focuses on providing a supportive environment for children in Gaza. Sheikh Nahyan remarked that this initiative exemplifies the UAE's compassion and solidarity with Palestinian families.

He reaffirmed the deep fraternal ties between the UAE and Palestine, stating that the gathering is a testament to the Emirati people's unwavering spirit of solidarity with Palestinians. Emphasizing the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, he noted that the UAE continues to honor the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan by advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people and empowering them to establish an independent state.

Sheikh Nahyan expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Taawon for striving to ensure a dignified existence for Palestinians. He recognized the organization as a benchmark for personal development, social advancement, and the promotion of Palestinian heritage. He praised the resilience and strength of the Palestinian community amidst adversity.

Highlighting the importance of the Noor Programme, which gives vital support to orphaned children in Gaza, Sheikh Nahyan called it a beacon of humanitarian ethics, compassion, and reverence for life, providing hope to the youth affected by conflict.

Dr. Nabeel Hani Al-Kudumi, Chairman of Taawon, discussed the organization’s impressive four-decade history in serving the Palestinian community, stating that Taawon has allocated over one billion dollars towards various programs aiding Palestinians. Following the onset of the Gaza conflict, Taawon has accelerated its relief efforts through the Gaza Deserves initiative, encompassing the Noor Programme, support for university students, mobile medical units, and rehabilitation services for the injured.

Dr. Tareq Mtayrah, Director-General of Taawon, provided insights into the Noor Programme, outlining it as a comprehensive care model that guides children until they reach adulthood. The program encompasses education, health, psychological support, and safeguarding, aimed at helping children recover and flourish despite challenging circumstances.

Taawon expressed gratitude to the UAE’s leadership and citizens for hosting this event and reinforcing robust support for the Palestinian cause. The assembly highlighted the strong fraternal connections between both peoples and showcased genuine partnership to create a secure and dignified future for Gaza’s youth through the Noor initiative.
