The United Nations Security Council has collectively denounced the lethal terrorist attacks that occurred at various sites in Mali on April 25 and May 6, 2026, resulting in numerous casualties and injuries.
In a formal statement released on Friday, the Security Council members characterized these acts as “atrocious and despicable,” offering heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families.
The Council underscored the necessity of bringing all individuals involved in these attacks to justice, including the attackers, planners, financers, and supporters of terrorism. Members called for swift accountability.
Additionally, the Security Council reiterated that terrorism in all its forms poses a significant threat to global peace and security. The members called on nations to persist in their collaborative efforts against terrorism in line with international law.
This statement comes in light of rising global concern about the security situation in Mali, where ongoing terrorist activities continue to impact civilians and threaten regional stability.
