Kuwait Customs Seizes 855g Gold From Two Indian Flyers Today

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Kuwait Customs officials at Terminal 4 of Kuwait International Airport have foiled two separate attempts to smuggle 855 grams of 24-karat gold out of the country. The gold was seized from two Indian passengers who were travelling to Ahmedabad, India.

According to Kuwait Customs, officers became suspicious of the two passengers while they were completing departure procedures. Separate inspections were then carried out, leading to the discovery of gold that had allegedly been disguised to conceal its actual nature.

First Passenger Found With 353 Grams of Gold

During the inspection of the first passenger, customs officers discovered 353 grams of pure 24-karat gold.

The gold had been cast in the shape of a belt buckle and coated with a black substance. Authorities said the coating appeared to have been used to disguise the gold and make it look like an ordinary belt accessory.

Second Passenger Carrying 502 Grams of Gold

In the second case, customs officers recovered a total of 502 grams of gold.

The seized items included a 340-gram gold belt buckle that had also been coated in black. Officers additionally found a 162-gram bracelet made of linked rings, which had been covered with a silver-colored substance in an apparent attempt to conceal the gold underneath.

Passengers Referred for Legal Action

Kuwait Customs said seizure reports are being prepared in both cases. The two Indian passengers, along with the seized gold items, will be referred to the competent authorities for the necessary legal procedures.

The cases highlight continued customs checks at Kuwait International Airport to prevent attempts to illegally transport valuable goods and concealed precious metals across borders.
