Vietnam Details Tuition Aid Criteria for Students

Post by : Shakul

The Vietnamese government has issued an update regarding the eligibility criteria for tuition fee assistance, particularly affecting students from economically disadvantaged areas. This clarification follows inquiries about eligibility when students attend schools outside their official residential zones.

The matter came to light through a specific instance from Thai Nguyen, where a family, with permanent residence in a Zone III region known for economic hardships, temporarily relocated for employment. Their child is enrolled in a school situated outside the registered residential area.

The Ministry of Education and Training has outlined that tuition assistance policies are explicitly defined in government legislation. Support is only granted to students who reside and study within recognized disadvantaged areas, such as Zone III communes and similar designated places.

According to the ministry, students attending classes in areas not classified as disadvantaged will not be eligible for financial assistance, despite their permanent residence remaining in a Zone III area.

In this particular case, the child’s school is located in a ward not recognized as disadvantaged by local authorities, disqualifying the student from receiving educational expense support.

Officials mentioned that these regulations are intended to ensure equitable distribution of resources, directing support to those studying in officially designated disadvantaged regions. This initiative is aimed at assisting students who encounter barriers due to limited access to educational facilities in such locales.

This clarification is anticipated to aid parents in understanding eligibility requirements more comprehensively and prevent ambiguity. Authorities have also urged families to review local regulations thoroughly before submitting any requests for educational financial aid.
