Vietnam Government Unveils Directives for 2026 Reforms

Post by : Shakul

The Vietnamese government has rolled out a detailed framework of directives aimed at enhancing national progress, boosting governance, and elevating economic performance across various sectors. This initiative highlights the government’s commitment to legal reforms, infrastructure enhancement, tourism growth, and digital advancement as pivotal objectives for 2026.

A notable aspect of these directives includes amending the regulations governing Vietnamese workers employed overseas, making it a key part of the 2026 legislative agenda. This reform is targeted to bolster legal protections for workers and enhance the efficiency of overseas employment protocols. Specific ministries have been designated to draft and present these legal changes within established timelines.

Additionally, the government has reassigned responsibilities among ministries for drafting vital legislation concerning real estate, food safety, commerce, and customs. These initiatives are poised to fortify institutional frameworks, enhance business conditions, and ensure the legal system aligns with the contemporary economic landscape. Officials underscored that the timely drafting of these laws is essential for sustaining reform momentum and long-term development.

On the tourism front, the government approved significant conservation and development initiatives for critical national heritage sites, such as the Trang An landscape complex in Ninh Binh province. The aim is to harmonize conservation efforts with sustainable tourism strategies, positioning the area as a recognized global destination while safeguarding its cultural and environmental integrity. Plans for Ha Long Bay are also in motion, prioritizing the preservation of biodiversity and cultural identity, while advancing tourism infrastructure.

Infrastructure remains a key area of focus, particularly regarding the Long Thanh International Airport project, deemed one of Vietnam’s most crucial national undertakings. The government has instructed all involved agencies to expedite construction and tackle prevailing challenges to ensure the airport's operational readiness by 2026. While there are issues related to funding, delays, and resource limitations, authorities maintain that this timeline is a national imperative.

Moreover, the directives stress enhanced cooperation among ministries and local governments to overcome challenges linked to resource availability and project management. Increased accountability and transparency have been emphasized to mitigate any violations during project execution.

An important new initiative includes forming a Steering Committee to facilitate digital transformation within law enforcement and judicial systems. This development aims at modernizing legal processes and improving technology-driven data management. The committee will oversee coordination among different ministries to guarantee the secure implementation of digital systems across legal domains.

The government also reiterated the need for ongoing proposals for new legislative projects that align with broader development strategies. Ministries are urged to evaluate existing policies, identify shortfalls, and propose initiatives that bolster economic growth and institutional advancement.

In summary, these directives exemplify Vietnam’s dedication to comprehensive reforms and sustainable development. By prioritizing legal updates, infrastructure growth, tourism enrichment, and digital transformation, the government seeks to enhance its global competitiveness and instate long-term economic stability.
