The University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Salalah inaugurated the second annual World Mental Health Day exhibition today. This year, the event is centered around the theme "Enhancing Mental Health in the Workplace," highlighting the importance of wellbeing in professional settings.
The exhibition brings together experts, organizations, and community members to promote mental health awareness and provide practical strategies for managing workplace stress.
Collaborative Community Initiative
The event is organized in collaboration with 15 governmental and private institutions across the Dhofar Governorate. This partnership represents a strong community-driven approach to supporting mental health initiatives and raising awareness about psychological wellbeing.
By combining resources and expertise, the university and its partners aim to create a sustainable model for mental health education and advocacy in both professional and social contexts.
University Leadership Supports the Cause
Dr. Said bin Hamad Al Rubaie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, presided over the opening ceremony. He recognized the contributions of participating organizations and emphasized the university’s commitment to community engagement in mental health awareness.
Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Shahri, Assistant Vice Chancellor at the Salalah campus, highlighted the importance of mental health in enhancing productivity, life quality, and overall wellbeing. He stressed that cross-sector collaboration is essential to building effective support systems for mental health.
Exhibition Highlights and Activities
The exhibition features educational displays, interactive workshops, and awareness services from health, educational, and social institutions. Participants are introduced to practical approaches for managing stress, handling psychological challenges, and maintaining positive mental health practices in the workplace and daily life.
Attendees gain insight into strategies that can improve work-life balance, promote emotional resilience, and foster supportive environments for colleagues and community members.
Promoting Mental Health Awareness
A key goal of the initiative is to strengthen understanding of mental health in personal, professional, and academic contexts. By offering resources, guidance, and support services, the exhibition helps individuals and organizations implement practices that encourage psychological wellbeing.
This proactive approach ensures that mental health becomes a priority not only in workplaces but also across broader community settings.
Building Positive Work Environments
Through the World Mental Health Day exhibition, Salalah University and its partners demonstrate their commitment to advancing mental health awareness and education.
The initiative promotes healthy workplace practices, psychological support, and stress management strategies, contributing to the development of sustainable, positive work environments and reinforcing the university’s role as a leader in community-focused health initiatives.
