Sheikh Hamdan Reviews AD Ports Plans for Sir Bani Yas

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, received a delegation from AD Ports Group at Al Nakheel Palace in Abu Dhabi. The group was headed by Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, the Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports. The meeting was part of wider efforts to strengthen sustainable development initiatives in the Al Dhafra Region.

Focus on Sustainable Development

During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the progress of several infrastructure projects by AD Ports Group. These projects aim to enhance marine facilities and improve cruise ship services on Sir Bani Yas Island. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that the projects are important for creating a development environment that benefits both residents and visitors. He also noted that these initiatives align with Abu Dhabi’s long-term sustainability goals.

Support from UAE Leadership

Sheikh Hamdan stressed that the projects are being carried out under the guidance of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The President attaches special importance to sustainable growth across the country, including the Al Dhafra Region. By enabling strategic projects like those on Sir Bani Yas Island, the leadership aims to strengthen the UAE’s position on the global economic map while improving quality of life for citizens.

Enhancing Sir Bani Yas Island

One of the key goals of these projects is to increase the infrastructure capacity of Sir Bani Yas Island. According to Sheikh Hamdan, this expansion will help attract more visitors and boost the island’s reputation as a premier destination for luxury yachts and cruise ships. These efforts will also consolidate Abu Dhabi’s role as a major global maritime hub.

Statement from AD Ports Group CEO

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi highlighted the importance of Sheikh Hamdan’s vision for Al Dhafra Region. He said this vision inspires AD Ports Group to position Sir Bani Yas Island as a world-class destination for maritime and tourism activities. Al Shamisi confirmed that the Group is working on plans to further expand the island’s infrastructure and improve services for both cruise ships and luxury yachts.

Strengthening Abu Dhabi’s Global Standing

The cooperation between AD Ports Group and the Al Dhafra leadership reflects Abu Dhabi’s broader ambition to combine infrastructure development with sustainability. By focusing on projects that promote tourism, marine services, and economic growth, the emirate aims to enhance its global standing while ensuring long-term benefits for local communities.

The meeting between Sheikh Hamdan and the AD Ports delegation underlined the UAE’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development, modern infrastructure, and global competitiveness. Sir Bani Yas Island, with its upgraded marine facilities, is set to play a central role in attracting international visitors and strengthening Abu Dhabi’s status as a global hub for tourism and maritime services.
