ADNOC Launches Global LNG Trading Platform in Abu Dhabi

ADNOC Launches Global LNG Trading Platform in Abu Dhabi

Post by : Bianca Haleem

ABU DHABI: ADNOC has launched a new global liquefied natural gas (LNG) marketing and trading platform at Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), bringing together the LNG marketing operations of ADNOC Gas and XRG with the trading expertise of ADNOC Trading under a single commercial platform.

The new platform is designed to improve flexibility in LNG marketing and shipping while supporting the continued expansion of ADNOC Gas’ LNG portfolio, including the upcoming Ruwais LNG project. It will also support XRG’s international growth in gas and infrastructure while providing customers around the world with improved access to LNG supplies.

Platform to Support Growing LNG Business

The integrated platform combines ADNOC’s LNG marketing, trading and shipping capabilities in one location, helping the company manage an expanding and more diverse LNG portfolio.

ADNOC and XRG aim to market a combined 47 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG by 2035 through the platform. Once this target is achieved, the business is expected to become one of the world's leading LNG market participants while strengthening Abu Dhabi’s role as an international energy trading hub.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber Highlights Growing LNG Demand

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, and XRG Executive Chairman, said growing global demand for LNG requires reliable and trusted suppliers capable of operating at scale.

He said the integrated commercial platform brings together ADNOC’s marketing, trading and shipping operations into a single global hub based in Abu Dhabi. According to him, the move significantly increases the scale, flexibility and commercial opportunities of ADNOC’s LNG business while helping the company meet rising global energy demand.

Rashid Al Mazrouei Appointed to Lead LNG Marketing

ADNOC has appointed Rashid Al Mazrouei as Chief Marketing & Origination Officer (LNG). He will oversee the marketing of the combined LNG equity portfolios of ADNOC Gas and XRG.

Based at ADGM, Al Mazrouei will lead long-term LNG marketing and origination activities while working closely with ADNOC Trading to centralise LNG marketing under the new commercial platform.

He brings experience from ADNOC Gas, which has supplied LNG since 1977 and has delivered more than 3,500 LNG cargoes to customers worldwide.

Existing Commercial Arrangements Remain Unchanged

ADNOC confirmed that ADNOC Gas’ current commercial LNG agreements will continue without any changes.

The company expects the new platform to improve the optimisation of LNG marketing activities, including future production from the Ruwais LNG project. The platform is also supported by XRG’s expanding international LNG portfolio and its supply hubs and offices in London and Abu Dhabi.

ADNOC Trading to Continue Trading Operations

Under the new structure, long-term LNG marketing activities will be managed through the integrated platform, while ADNOC Trading will remain responsible for trading operations. Existing customer relationships and interfaces will not change.

Within four years, ADNOC Trading has developed a significant third-party LNG portfolio and ranks among the world's leading LNG financial traders. The company operates offices in Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Geneva.

Shipping Network Strengthens LNG Platform

Shipping remains a key part of the new LNG platform.

In 2025, ADNOC Trading’s LNG shipping desk ranked among the leading global LNG charterers in both physical shipping and freight derivatives.

Meanwhile, ADNOC L&S has expanded its owned LNG fleet to 20 vessels, including 14 modern two-stroke LNG carriers, supporting increasing LNG production in the UAE and expanding global LNG trade.
