Air India and IndiGo have issued travel advisories for passengers as dense fog during the holiday season continues to affect flight operations in several parts of India. The airlines said reduced visibility may lead to delays or cancellations and requested passengers to remain patient as services slowly return to normal.
In its advisory, Air India said it is closely monitoring weather conditions and taking all possible steps to reduce the impact of fog on flights. The airline said it understands how important travel plans are during the holiday period and assured passengers that teams are working round the clock to minimise inconvenience. According to weather forecasts, dense fog is expected in Delhi and parts of northern and eastern India, which may affect flights at airports including Delhi, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Patna, with delays spreading across the wider network.
Air India said it has already taken preventive measures to manage disruptions. In case of delays or cancellations, ground staff will be available at all times to assist passengers and arrange alternatives. Passengers booked on selected flights during the fog-affected period will receive advance alerts under the airline’s FogCare initiative. They can change flights without extra charges or opt for a full refund without any penalty. The airline also advised travelers to check their flight status on the official website before heading to the airport, adding that passenger safety remains its top priority.
Similarly, IndiGo also warned passengers about dense fog affecting visibility, especially at Chandigarh and Amritsar airports. In a post shared on its official social media account, the airline said fog continues to disrupt flights to and from these cities. IndiGo advised passengers to check the latest flight updates on its website or mobile app before starting their journey.
The airline assured passengers that its teams are working closely with airport authorities to resume normal operations as soon as weather conditions improve. IndiGo said boarding will begin once visibility improves and thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation during the disruptions caused by fog.
