Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open organising committee has officially announced that Canadian tennis sensation Victoria Mboko will make her debut at the fourth edition of the tournament. The WTA 500 event is scheduled from 31st January to 7th February 2026 at the International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City, promising top-level tennis action for fans.

Mboko, 19, from Toronto, enjoyed a breakthrough 2025 season, climbing from outside the top 300 in the world rankings into the elite top 20. Her standout achievement came in August when she claimed the prestigious WTA 1000 National Bank Open title in Montreal. During this tournament, Mboko defeated four Grand Slam singles champions, including four-time major winner Naomi Osaka in the final, to secure her first WTA Tour title and announce herself as a rising star in women’s tennis.

Following this, she continued her winning form by claiming another WTA title in Hong Kong in November. Earlier in 2025, Mboko had already made waves by winning four consecutive ITF World Tennis Tour titles. She also reached the third round of the French Open, demonstrating her consistency and growth on the international stage. Her incredible rise in just one year has made her one of the most exciting young players in the sport.

The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open will also feature defending champion Belinda Bencic, who will headline the tournament alongside emerging talents like Alexandra Eala from the Philippines. Fans can expect intense competition and thrilling matches as Victoria Mboko makes her debut in the UAE and tests her skills against some of the world’s best players.

With her impressive 2025 performances and rapid ascent in global rankings, Mboko’s participation in the Abu Dhabi Open is expected to draw huge attention from tennis enthusiasts and media alike. Her journey highlights the growing presence of young, talented players making an impact on the WTA Tour and adding excitement to every tournament she enters.
