Emirates has forged a partnership with GE Aerospace, aiming to elevate its aircraft engine repair and maintenance operations within Dubai. The cooperation centers on enhancing advanced repair services for GE90 and GP7200 engines.
The agreement was formalized at the Emirates Group Headquarters, with Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and COO of Emirates, and Mohamed Ali, President and CEO of Commercial Engines & Services at GE Aerospace, in attendance.
This collaboration supports the growth of the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC), represented by a substantial US$300 million investment designed to bolster maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities for aircraft engines.
Per the agreement, GE Aerospace is set to provide technical consultancy along with specialized training for Emirates Engineering teams. They will aid in establishing a dedicated repair line for component parts and facilitate the transfer of technical know-how, industry standards, and best practices to the EEMC workforce.
Adel Al Redha noted that this agreement signifies a pivotal milestone in refining Emirates’ engine repair capabilities and establishing leading maintenance resources in Dubai. He remarked that the collaboration will enhance employee training, equipping them with essential skills for repairing the GE90 and GP7200 engines, which are essential for Emirates’ Boeing 777s and part of its Airbus A380 fleet.
He also stated that the EEMC's expansion will further consolidate Emirates Engineering’s status as a premier center for aircraft engine repairs, enhancing service efficiency for the airline’s expanding fleet.
Mohamed Ali expressed that Emirates is a vital long-term partner for GE Aerospace, emphasizing this agreement's alignment with GE's commitment to supporting airline customers through the entire lifecycle of their engines, thereby also promoting the long-term development of the UAE's aviation industry.
Currently, Emirates Engineering offers engineering, line maintenance, and base maintenance support for over 270 aircraft, including Boeing 777, Airbus A380, and Airbus A350 models, from its state-of-the-art facilities in Dubai.
Established in 2014, the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre continues to deliver repair and maintenance services for engines utilized within the Emirates fleet.
