In a strategic effort to enhance trade relations, Dubai Chambers facilitated 276 business meetings between Dubai-based enterprises and firms in Accra, Ghana's capital, during the initial phase of its trade mission to both Ghana and Ethiopia.
The trade mission is part of the chamber's 'New Horizons' initiative, geared towards assisting Dubai companies in penetrating promising foreign markets and forging robust global partnerships.
The delegation consisted of representatives from 19 enterprises across diverse sectors including automotive, construction, electronics, engineering, FMCG, food and beverages, interior design, mining, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and textiles.
Salem AlShamsi, the Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, emphasized the organization's dedication to enhancing economic ties between Dubai and Ghana while creating sustainable opportunities for businesses in both territories.
He noted that this mission facilitates new dialogue channels and aids Dubai firms in identifying expansion prospects within the Ghanaian market. Furthermore, it plays a crucial role in bolstering the competitiveness of Dubai's private sector and supporting the growth of non-oil foreign trade.
During this visit, Dubai Chamber of Commerce arranged the 'Dubai-Ghana Business Connect' forum, in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Ghana, the Ghana Consulate General in the UAE, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre.
The forum saw participation from 532 individuals, including government officials, business leaders, and investors eager to strengthen partnerships between Dubai and Ghana.
Keynotes at the event featured H.E. Dr. Abdulla Murad Al Mandoos, UAE Ambassador to Ghana; H.E. Grace El Mahmoud Marabe, Consul General of Ghana in Dubai; Stéphane Miezan, President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Simon Madjie, CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre.
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce showcased the emirate’s favorable economic climate and its merits as a global trading and investment hub during the forum. Simultaneously, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre highlighted investment avenues in Ghana, emphasizing its strategic role as a gateway to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The trade dynamics between Dubai and Ghana are on an upward trajectory, with the non-oil trade value soaring to AED 39.6 billion in 2025, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 60.1%.
This burgeoning partnership is also evident in the membership records of Dubai Chambers, which registered 225 Ghanaian companies as active members by the end of Q1 2026, including 16 new members that joined within the same quarter.
Key sectors represented by the Ghanaian member companies comprise trading and services, real estate and business services, transportation, personal services, and construction.
