Dubai Hosts Fifth PodFest 2025 for Arab Content Creators

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, Dubai Press Club hosted the fifth edition of Dubai PodFest. The event took place at the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre, and attracted more than 1,200 participants, including podcasters, media professionals, platform representatives, and students from across the region.

Sheikh Ahmed Highlights Media Development and Creativity

Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed welcomed attendees, emphasising the role of Dubai PodFest in strengthening a globally competitive Arab media industry. He stated that digital content extends beyond entertainment, serving as a tool for societal development and cultural dialogue. He highlighted Dubai’s investment in empowering creators to ensure Arab media thrives on a global scale while preserving its cultural identity.

Panels and Workshops Focus on Key Podcasting Topics

The event featured panel discussions and workshops covering crucial topics such as the impact of podcasts on social awareness, strategies for creator success, monetisation models, and integration with digital platforms. These sessions provided insights for emerging and established creators to expand their influence and adapt to the evolving media landscape.

Mona Al Marri Emphasises Podcasting’s Growing Influence

Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club, highlighted the increasing role of podcasts in media. She noted that podcasts combine credibility, reach, and influence, providing a unique platform for youth, entrepreneurs, and Arab creatives to shape the future of the sector.

Arab Podcast Program Winners Recognised

During the opening session, the Dubai Press Club recognised winners of the Arab Podcast Program, which offers training and mentorship to emerging podcasters. First place went to Emirati educator Amani Abdullah Al Teneiji for her podcast Mareekh. Saudi professional Raghad Al Arishi secured second place for Qudam, highlighting cultural and tourism topics in the Gulf. Syrian podcaster Tahani Mohammed Zuhayman achieved third place for Esma’ha Meni (Hear It from Me).

Maryam Al Mulla Highlights Podcasting as a Creative Economy Driver

Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, emphasised the growing role of podcasting in daily life and its contribution to the creative economy. She highlighted Dubai’s ambition to become a global hub for digital and creative industries, supporting media innovation and nurturing talent across the Arab world.

The opening session, moderated by Stefano Fallaha, CEO of Podeo, featured insights from Bryan Barletta, President of Podcast Movement. He described the Middle East as a promising market for podcast advertising and recommended localisation to regional dialects for better audience engagement. He also stressed diversifying revenue through merchandise, subscriptions, live events, licensing, and video content, while encouraging creators to focus on niche communities for sustainable growth.

Dubai PodFest 2025 demonstrated the emirate’s commitment to supporting media innovation and Arab podcasting. The event provided a platform for creators to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and explore new opportunities, positioning Dubai as a key hub for digital content, creativity, and media excellence.
